Your photos and your privacy
You’re sending us pictures of your own home, and sometimes your children are in the background. We treat those photos as something to borrow briefly, not to keep.
Photos are temporary
Your uploaded photos are used to create your treasure hunt and automatically cleared from our system within 7 days.
Your drawings and pack stay
The illustrated clue cards and your printable pack are yours to keep and download again. Deleting the original photos never removes those.
Careful handling in the meantime
While we hold your photos they are kept in private storage, reachable only by your own account, and sent over an encrypted connection.

Who is responsible for your data
Clue Quest is operated by David Forward, a sole trader (ABN 63 688 014 837). David Forward, trading as Clue Quest, is the data controller for the personal information described here. We decide why and how it is used. Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, acts as a controller for the payment information it collects at checkout.
What we collect and why
- Account details (name, email address, login credentials) — to create and secure your account and let you return to your hunts. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
- Photographs you upload and the artwork generated from them — to produce your clue cards and parent guide. Legal basis: performance of our contract.
- Order records (what you bought, when, order reference) — to give you access to your purchase and to meet accounting obligations. Legal basis: contract and legal obligation.
- Support messages — to answer your questions. Legal basis: legitimate interests in helping our customers.
- Usage and technical data (device information, IP address, basic telemetry and error logs) — to keep the service secure, prevent fraud and fix problems. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
Who we share it with
- Hosting, database, storage and email providers who run the service for us.
- Our AI image provider, which processes your photographs solely to generate the clue artwork.
- Paddle, our Merchant of Record, for the sale, payments, subscription management, tax compliance and invoicing.
- Professional advisers such as accountants and lawyers, where needed.
- Authorities, where we are required to by law.
We do not sell your personal information.
International transfers
Some of our providers are located outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. Where data leaves your region we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
Your uploaded photos are used to create your treasure hunt and automatically cleared from our system within 7 days. Your account, generated artwork and packs are kept while your account is open, so you can download them again. Order and tax records are kept for as long as the law requires. When data is no longer needed it is deleted or anonymised. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to certain processing, and withdraw consent where we rely on it. We respond within one month. Australian users may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner; UK/EEA users may complain to their local supervisory authority.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections, private storage buckets and per-account access controls, so that only you can reach your photos and hunts.
Cookies
We use essential cookies and local browser storage to keep you signed in and to hold your hunt while you build it. We do not use advertising cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, though signing in will not work without the essential ones.
